To avoid accidents with young children during diwali, here are few simple rules to follow

1. Buy Fireworks from the licensed shop.

2. Keep fireworks in a closed box .

3. Store crackers away from source of fire or ignition.

4. Follow all safety precautions issued with the fire works .

5. Go to open spaces like playgrounds, fields .

6. Light them at arms length using a taper .

7. Stand back while lighting the crackers .

8. Discard used fireworks in a bucket of water.

9. Keep buckets of water and blankets ready, incase a firebreaks out .

10. If clothes catch fire, Stop, Drop and Roll .

DONT'S

1. Don’t burn crackers in crowded, congested places, narrow lanes or inside the house.

2. Don’t burst crackers unaccompanied by an adult

3. Don’t put fireworks in your pocket or throw them

4. Don’t cover crackers with tin containers or glass bottles for extra sound effect

5. Don’t dare to examine un-burst crackers…leave it!! Light a new cracker

6. Don’t show the Dare-devilry of lighting crackers on own hands

7. Don’t use fireworks inside a vehicle

8. Avoid long loose clothes, as they are fast in catching fire

9. Avoid wearing synthetic clothes while lighting crackers
